Fodor's Expert Review Murchison Lodge
15 Grey St., Murchison, Tasman, 7007, New Zealand
Tucked in a tiny backstreet of Murchison, these comfortably countrified guest rooms, with strong colors and lots of wood, are within easy walking distance of the mighty Buller River. Breakfast (inclusive) is a wholesome, fully cooked affair Hosts Rosemary and Stephen enjoy engaging with their guests (without intruding); their aim is that everyone will leave the lodge wanting to return. They can put you in touch with a good local guide for trout fishing (book ahead) and suggest other local attractions and good places to eat.
- private access to the Buller River through a grassy field
- welcoming hosts
- a few stairs to climb
Rate Includes: Closed July/Aug. (dates vary), Free breakfast
