Fodor's Expert Review Eco Wanaka

Visit the lake that's on top of an island that's on top of the lake. Riddles aside, this is a journey to the Mou Waho Island Nature Reserve in the middle of Lake Wanaka; a guided nature walk to the summit reveals the lake on top and hopefully you'll hear or catch a glimpse of rare native birds along the way. On every trip, guests plant a native tree. The guides are all locals, incredibly knowledgeable, and guide walks all over this World Heritage Area, including the Rob Roy Glacier.
