Drift House
FODOR’S EXPERT REVIEW
Drift House doesn't need to boast; behind the unassuming facade are six beautifully designed suites that make you wish you could move in forever. The suites are housed in an Edwardian villa and in an 1870s bluestone residence steps from the waterfront. Vast beds are cloaked in the finest linens, curl-in-me armchairs and windows strategically placed for privacy and beauty. Each suite has its own gift: a wide balcony or cutting-edge kitchen, an intimate terrace or tree-lined courtyard. Breakfast is prepared to order by hosts John Watkinson and Colleen Guiney and served in the communal space, The Salon, and its fireplace and sunken lounge come into focus again for pre-dinner aperitifs and local wines by the glass. Book for the genuinely spectacular, Spanish-inspired dinner—offered on alternative nights; this level of service and attention is a rare jewel.
