Located along "Artists Alley" on Truong Cong Dinh Street, the first thing that is apparent about this bar is that it's a hit with the young, hip Dalat crowd. The recipe is fairly simple: the bar plays loud music and puts on entertaining live shows while serving cold, cheap beer. It's perhaps a little too loud to sit inside, but the terrace is a great place to watch the city go by in the evenings.
A long-standing staple of the late night Mui Ne scene, Dragon Beach only really gets buzzing late at night. The bar staff have access to a wide range of drinks, but they prefer to stick to "buckets" of budget booze, a hit with most revelers at this hour. The club itself is actually rather nice to look at, and has a number of great waterfront loungers, where you can put your feet up and watch the waves crash just below you.
A laid-back place to chill, drink craft beer, and soak in the beach views during the day, the Louisiane Brewhouse perks up at night, with live music and beach views.
From morning right up until the early hours, the Sailing Club is the place to be. After dinnertime, the space morphs into a sceney nightclub. Book a cabana or take a seat by the beachfront and sip good wine, beer, and signature cocktails, or just shake it on the dance floor.
This is a cool little café that features good live acoustic music every evening from 7:30–9 pm and a range of Western and Vietnamese comfort foods. If you're lucky, the owner will join a jam session.
Escape Bar has a great live band that plays mostly rock-and-roll covers every night. The bar attracts a mixture of friendly locals and tourists and visiting musicians are usually welcome to jam with the band. This is one of the liveliest places in town, usually kicking on until midnight.
Rather than the outdated watering hole its name suggests, Old Fashioned is a brand-new garden-and-rooftop bar with great wine and cocktails. The chilled-out, trendy outdoor bar boasts possibly the most extensive selection of liquor in the area and, most importantly, it has highly qualified staff to mix them. Downstairs in the garden, the place has the feeling of a relaxed surfer bar while up on the rooftop, there's more of a trendy club and lounge feel. The cocktail menu is lengthy, but feel free to order something that's not on the menu and they will most likely accommodate you.
This open-air beachfront bar is popular among backpackers for its laid-back daytime vibe and night-time party atmosphere, pumped up by the resident DJ. Reasonably priced food is available, including an all-day breakfast.
For something much more affordable and laid-back, why not stop by Why Not Bar? Located in the heart of the tourist area, this once shabby cavernous bar and club has undergone a makeover. The equation is simple here: straightforward drinks at affordable prices in comfortable surrounds. This is a decent place for a group of friends just seeking somewhere to drink and chat, provided you steer clear of the speakers as it can get loud.
