Before Pho Co opened, the options for fresh beer in Hoi An were limited to below-par tourist restaurants or getting down and dirty in a noisy, often toiletless local boys' beer shop on the outskirts of town. Not that that's a bad thing, but those that have sampled the amber homebrew will understand that a toilet nearby and a good menu of beer snacks to soak up the booze is essential. Pho Co, a lively bia hoi hall near the beach on Cua Dai, provides both, with the added bonus of surprisingly tuneful background music. The local way is to order your bia by the tower and graze through the grill menu of baby pork ribs, fresh seafood (the fish here is incredible), and chicken wings. Check for live music events on weekends.
