18 Best Hotels in Hue, The Central Coast

Background Illustration for Hotels

Most of Hue's upscale, full-service hotels are on Le Loi Street near Perfume River. Close to the sights, these properties are your best bet for service with a view. A few midrange hotels are clustered around the area between Truong Tien and Phu Xuan bridges, the main access bridges to the Citadel. Hotels of all sizes have travel services and can arrange boat tours to the tombs and pagodas as well as guided tours in and around Hue.

Azerai La Residence Hue

$$$$ | 5 Le Loi St., Hue, Vietnam Fodor's Choice

Built in the 1930s, this swanky hotel near the river (a French-colonial mansion and two newer wings) is recognized for its service as well as its Art Deco, jazzy panache. Opt for one of the 10 rooms in the original building housed over the main lobby and cocktail bar. A dramatic staircase winds to circular rooms with hardwood floors, claw-foot tubs, and four-poster beds draped in white curtains. Rooms in the newer section are more modern and slightly smaller. For pampering, head to the spa or saltwater pool. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the gardens overlooking the Perfume River.

Pros

  • Central location
  • Excellent service
  • River views
  • Exceptional tour service

Cons

  • Not child-friendly
  • Newer rooms are small

Duy Tan Hotel

$$ | 12 Hung Vuong St., Phu Nhuan Ward, Hue, Vietnam

Despite its large and semigrand appearance, this hotel functions as a glorified minihotel. Rooms are basic, but bright and spacious, although the renovation job is pretty spotty. Bathrooms are clean, but old-fashioned, and bathtubs have hand-held showers. If your room disappoints, ask to see a few in the same category, as the most recently upgraded rooms are well worth the money and the quiet location is handy for restaurants and exploring the sights.
