It may not be the most picturesque seaside town, but Cha-am does offer an authentic Thai-style beach experience. The pier at the north end of Cha-am Beach is the center of this small quiet town. Its main street, Ruamchit Beach Road, passes by a tree-lined strip of beach on one side and restaurants, bars, guesthouses, and hotels on the other. Fresh seafood is available at small cafés along this road, where there are also stalls selling trays of deep-fried squid, shrimp, and tiny crab for around B25. Cha-am retains its sleepy charm, and those searching for peace and quiet may find their niche here.
