Largely residential, Thonburi is where travelers go to take a ride along the city's ancient waterways. Most of Thonburi beyond the riverbank is of little interest to visitors. Many locals claim it retains more "Thai-ness" than the rest of Bangkok, but you'd have to live here, or visit for a long time, to appreciate that.
