106 Best Bars in Singapore

Synthesis

Marina Bay

Part restaurant, part speakeasy, and part music club, this classy venue is decked out as a vintage Chinese medicine hall. Neon lights, dark corridors strewn with hanging paper lanterns, and a well-choreographed menu of modern Singaporean food (think char siew but with Iberico pork) make for an exclusive ambience—but entering through the Suntec Mall spoils part of the fun. Happy Hour is from 4 to 6 pm daily. Reservations are recommended, but tables are also available for walk-ins.

TAP Craft Beer

Robertson Quay

This relaxed bar along the edge of the Singapore River has up to 20 Singaporean and international craft beers on draft each month and a small menu of bar snacks. The shaded spots outside, under the canopy of large rain trees, are a great place to people-watch as the evening arrives.

Temple Cellars

River Valley

Hip bottle shop Temple Cellars is a haven for craft beer enthusiasts and low-intervention wine lovers. Large stocked fridges and shelves line the walls of the small space in UE Square, with a particularly good selection of low-alcohol offerings. You’ll find a focus on small, independent producers of spirits, sake, wines, and more here, with a large collection of beers from Singapore’s craft brewers. The outdoor seats are a great place to grab a draft beer or sample some of the bottles on offer.

The Secret Mermaid

There’s also a short selection of beers and wines, and a snack menu led by the renowned oyster happy hour.

The Whiskey Library & Jazz Club

Little India

Hidden in a corner of the Hotel Vagabond Club, this bar houses a collection of 1,000 rare, single-cask, limited-edition whiskies that would impress even the most seasoned connoisseur. It’s styled like a typical whiskey den, with lots of wood, velvet, and a glass showcase. The cigar menu is up to par, and there's live jazz starting at 5 pm from Wednesday to Saturday.

Tipsy Penguin Tampines

Changi

One in a group of affiliated bars and cafés that cater to young and debonair Singaporeans, Tipsy Penguin is a hotspot in the student-dominated eastern district of Tampines. Good vibes, a better-than-average choice of bar food, and live music make it a brilliant choice for a fun night out. It's popular for its Hyogo Japanese oyster platters, tenderloin steak fries, and Italian pastas. The menu also includes an eclectic choice of international tapas (from wagyu cubes to smoked chicken nachos). Patrons can rent popular board games while trying the literally mind-numbing selection of well-priced wines, beers, and shots.

Wala Wala

Holland Village

Holland Village has seen many bars open and close, but this wildly popular watering hole has stayed the same for decades, pairing its jugs of cocktails and other drinks with Western favorites like pizza and steak. Live music often plays upstairs, and there's a bustling bar downstairs that has a welcoming outdoor sitting area, which occasionally spills out onto the street on a Saturday night.

Wine Mouth

Joo Chiat

On the first floor of a shophouse, Singapore's first retail store and wine bar dedicated solely to natural wine—biodynamic farmed, organic, with minimal intervention in the wine-making process—is a spot to get a natural healthy hangover. You'll find reds, whites, oranges, rosé, sparkling, and spirits, though closing time is a fairly early 9 pm.

Yeast Side

Bukit Timah

Craft beer spots like this are unusual to find on the west side of Singapore, so when this bar popped up it quickly became a hit with the locals. Part craft beer bar, part bakery, part pizza slinger, it has a decent enough menu that you can enjoy a full evening here. The real draws are the drinks, though, with beer fans choosing from a selection of exciting international craft ales. The space has a set of outside seats that are great for sipping a beer and watching the evening rush go past.
