In the wake of Eat, Pray, Love, this once-quiet hamlet in the hills has quickly become a major tourist destination. International brands are jostling for space at the roadside stands, and tour buses are clogging its main artery, Jalan Monkey Forest. But at its heart, Ubud is still about rice field views, trying your hand at carving or painting with a traditional tukang (craftsperson), and just chilling out.
