It's now a futuristic city of wide boulevards and towering skyscrapers topped by the Shanghai Tower. Apartments here are some of the most expensive in Shanghai. Although a little on the bland side, it is home to expat compounds designed in a bizarre medley of architectural styles, international schools, and malls. However, there are a few sites here worth visiting, particularly if you have children. To avoid crushing crowds, do not visit family favorites such as Disneyland, the aquarium, or the science and technology museum on weekends and during school holidays.
