Small Hotel

If you're looking for a clean budget hotel in Sihanoukville town that doesn't cater to bar girls and their clientele, this is it. Good food (Khmer and European) is rustled up at the restaurant, and the bar serves cool sounds and even colder beers. Not only is the Small Hotel clean, it's also close to the bus station. A portion of your payment goes toward the nonprofit children's organization sponsored by the hotel's Swedish owner. They have a Small beach bar on Independence Beach and with advanced notice they provide free tuk-tuk rides there and back.

The former residence of the governor of Ratanakiri Province has been transformed into a scenic resort with a beautifully landscaped tropical garden. The charming villa, with ground- and first-floor rooms and suites, most in the main building with a few set in the gardens, are steeped in colonial charm and furnished with Cambodian antiques and decorative items made by local tribes. For a luxurious family experience, the Governor's Suite ($250), which sleeps five people and has its own large living room with billiard table and private terrace, is highly recommended. The restaurant serves a satisfying selection of Cambodian- and French-inspired dishes, while on-site amenities include a spa, a refreshing saltwater pool, and a boules court. The staff can arrange all sorts of activities and tours from cooking classes and cultural experiences to cruises and gem mines tours.
