Kasubi Tombs (Buganda Kingdom)

The Kasubi Tombs are the burial grounds of four Kabakas (hereditary kings) of Buganda and a vital spiritual site. A UNESCO World Heritage site, they showcase an architectural style that dates back to the 13th century. Partially reopened in 2024 after a 2010 fire, the tombs appear as a simple hut, yet every reed and pole is imbued with deep cultural significance, revealed by expert guides. The tombs are managed by Buganda Heritage & Tourism Board, which also oversees the kingdom's Bulange (Parliament) and Lubiri (Kabaka’s Palace), adjacent to Idi Amin’s torture chambers.
