6 Best Restaurants in High Atlas, Morocco

Nestled in the foothills of the mountains near Ouirgane, Chez Momo is a delightful spot to sip a cocktail by the small pool or have a barbecue dinner seated on one of the chairs fashioned from tree trunks. After a feast you may find yourself inquiring about one of the seven cozy rooms and six suites, where a breakfast of morning coffee and beghrir (pancakes) is brought to your door each morning.

This restaurant located within a riad has stunning panoramic views from the rooftop terrace, along with delicious food. You'll find all the standard Moroccan dishes here, with a nice selection of well-portioned tagines.

This small but clean café and guesthouse is next door to the Kasbah Telouet parking lot and Ahmed, the owner, is very knowledgeable of Glaoui history and can organize tours of the surrounding area. He is also happy to sit and chat as well as feed you well for around 70 DH.

For sophisticated dining in Oukaïmeden, you’ll instantly appreciate Juju’s yesteryear feel, modeled after alpine-style accommodations. The restaurant has been operating for more than 60 years and serves distinctly French dishes such as cassoulet and tartiflette (a potato, cheese, and onion gratin), alongside some Moroccan choices like tagines. There’s a bar, too.

This small café right at the summit of Tizi-n-Test is the perfect place to take in the astounding view with some Moroccan cookies and mint tea on beautiful wrought-iron chairs made by the owner's son. It's also a good spot to stop along the road and wander up the hills. 

For only 60 DH, you can get a great meal here consisting of three courses made entirely by the family's mother. Go for a classic Moroccan salad (tomatoes and peppers) and a tagine of your choice and eat on the quaint platform overlooking the river. It's simple and very Moroccan.
