  • 1. Atika Beersheva Bar

You can choose from 15 beers on tap and five local brews in bottles at this bar in a finely preserved former home with much of its original tilework. This laid-back spot attracts a more mature crowd in the evening. Old-timers may remember a similarly named Attica, but don't be put off; this is a different place.

  • 4. Paddy's Irish Pub

Looking for all the world like an American sports bar, Paddy's stocks more than 50 kinds of international beers, including 16 on draft. Everything here is big: the food menu, the wooden patio, and the bar, said to be the largest in Eilat. On game nights you have your choice of nine screens, or you can pass the time upstairs on one of the four pool tables. Bands play twice a week on summer nights.

  • 6. Fifth Avenue

    Closed Permanently

If you're looking to avoid the more touristy spots, this restaurant and bar in the park is the closest you'll get in Eilat. This New York–style joint has tables lit with flickering candles, a wide-ranging menu, and a dance floor where locals venture late at night. Low ceilings make this a louder-than-necessary experience, particularly on Friday when the DJs spin electronic music. It's closed Sunday.

Shofron St., Eilat, Southern District, 88000, Israel
  • 7. Mezach (Pier) 99

    Closed Permanently

This fun, laid-back pub, as popular with locals as it is with visitors, manages to be both cozy and sceney at the same time. Inside, the spacious U-shaped bar is manned by skilled bartenders pulling beers on tap and shaking cocktails (like several bars in Eilat, posters of classic rock musicians decorate the walls). Outside on the deck, comfortable outdoor seating offers great views of the boats moored in the lagoon below. Get there early if you'd like to play a round of pool on the outdoor table, or prepare for a queue. Food, in the bar-snack vein, is surprisingly tasty if you stick to basics like fries, burgers, wings, and sandwiches. There's often live music; ask your hotel concierge to check the roster for you.

Hamayim No. 99, Eilat, Southern District, Israel
  • 8. Moscow-New York

    Closed Permanently

At the Princess Hotel, Moscow-New York tops the disco bill, with mirrored walls, fluted columns, and a checkered dance floor.
