Lisa Morrow

Sydney, Australia-born author and travel writer Lisa Morrow has lived in Istanbul and other parts of Turkey for almost 15 years, as well as three years in Lisbon. She has an MA in Sociology, has written five books on Turkey, and her work has appeared in The New York Times, BBC Travel, World Nomads, The Guardian, CNN Travel, and elsewhere. Prior to becoming a freelance travel writer eight years ago she taught English as a foreign and second language in both Australia and Turkey. She was a featured writer at Spoken Word Istanbul in October 2024, and a panellist for We Call It Home: Istanbul Dialogues in May the same year. Lisa has been featured in Turkish national media, been the subject of a TV series about foreigners living in Istanbul and a guest on a morning TV chat show filmed live. The latter two were recorded entirely in Turkish.
