Q&A

  • Why do you travel?

Because I constantly crave the new.

  • What’s one thing you never travel without?

Ear plugs and a sleeping mask. Anything to ensure a stranger doesn’t try to swap life stories on a 10-hour flight instead of sleeping.

  • City or country?

    City. No doubt about it.

  • What’s the first thing you do when you arrive in a new place?

I like to take a 10-minute walk around wherever I will be staying. It helps me identify some nearby landmarks if I get lost and gives me an idea of the neighborhood.

  • Carry-on or checked?

Checked, unfortunately. As a photographer, my camera equipment takes carry-on priority.

  • If you could live in any hotel, which would it be?

The Fairmont Empress in Victoria, British Columbia so that I could have their high tea for every meal.

  • What’s on your travel bucket list?

Antartica (Got to hit all 7 continents!), Jordan, Mongolia, or as I like to tell people, anywhere and everywhere.

  • Where’s your favorite beach in the world?

The beach located in the backyard of my family’s cottage in Western Ontario. The shores of Lake Huron are my happy place.

  • What is your favorite time of year to travel?

I try to visit places during their autumn season. The weather is usually mild, streets are packed with fewer people, and the days still have enough sunlight to feel magical no matter where you are.

  • When were you first bitten by the travel bug?

My aunt used to travel over 300,000 miles a year for work all over the globe. I would cry and beg for her to take me to India or Japan as young as six years old. I am eternally trying to catch up with her passport stamps.
