Welcome to opinions. Do you think that Yosetime is a safe vacation spot for a single 26 year old female? I am touring various destinations in California, and this was one of the stops that I had planned on making. I was only planning on spending about 1 night there. Would anyone care to recommend a hotel at Yosetime? Thanks to all who reply.

Yosemite, whether you stay within the Valley (good luck unless you reserve several months in advance) or outside, is about as safe a place as you could stay. You are FAR more likely to be hurt while driving to Yosemite than you would be attacked while spending the night there. You are no more likely to attacked there as you would be in any other place in the U.S., so you gain nothing by avoiding spending the night there.

Is there any reason you're worried about staying there? Surely you're aware that the creep who attacked several women, many years ago, was caught very soon after the crimes were uncovered. I hope your friends aren't confusing PUBLICITY over danger with REAL danger; it's a common mistake people make in this media obsessed world.

Ok, thanks for that. I will keep it in mind and will start searching for hotels now. With the lag in tourism, I am hoping that there are still some vacancies in some decent hotels. Also as far as hiking are there some popular tourist trails, maybe some guided hikes? I am not exactly Mother Nature so I wouldn't want to hike by myself.

As soon as you get there, stop by the vistor's center and speak to a ranger. The ranger can advise you as to good trails based on your hiking experience, time, and what you want to see. The more popular trails are going to have many people on them, so you won't be alone. Ranger talks and hikes are good ways to get aquainted with a national park.
