Yosemite Update
Here's the skinny on what's happening in Yosemite right now from Tom Stienstra in today's SF Chronicle. There's some good tips here for prospective visitors. Now is the time to go.

We were there a couple weeks ago and the falls are indeed beautiful this time of year. And the dogwoods seemed to be about to hit their peak.
We stayed in the housekeeping camp and there were a couple bears in camp on a couple nights. So anybody going up, definitely be careful.

FYI: Tioga Pass (Hwy 120) is still not open, but is being plowed at about 3 miles per day. After they get done plowing there will probably be some road repair. There is still no ETA on when it will be open.
Glacier Point road is open.
Hwy 140 has major work being done all summer and is subject to long delays.

Our experience on Hwy 140 wasn't bad. We had to wait about 10 minutes coming in and then only about 5 minutes going out. There is another place with single lane control once you get inside the park. We had to wait about 15 minutes going in and about 5 going out.

Hwy 120 update for today is still no ETA on opening. They are still plowing and the snow is about 8 feet deep. They are working on widening what they have already plowed and cutting in the side roads.
Does not look like any snow will be coming in the immediate future.
Plowing started on April 15th and can take anywhere between 1-2 months to complete.

OK, some update before I post a report. The road to El Capitan was closed for repairs (fixing the mountain? LOL) so our tour bus couldn't get close.
The dogwoods are blooming everywhere.
The Yosemite fall is so full we didn't take pictures there. It felt like rain being close to it, we were afraid water will get into camera. We did take some pics in other parts of the park.
NOW is the best time to go for waterfalls! Just check which roads are open (some closed for repairs).
And the crowds are in, of course! Shuttles are running often, we saw them everywhere.
We saw some tiny patches of snow, but not anything to really speak of.
