YMT Vacations
My husband and I are planning on taking a YMT Vacation to Hawaii for 15 days, 4 islands. I am trying to locate anyone who has; 1.travelled on these YMT tours to Hawaii and 2.trying to find out information on the hotels we would be staying at, namely, Ocean Resort Hotel on Oahu; Kauai Sands Hotel on Kauai;Maui Seaside Hotel on Maui and Hilo and Kona on Hawaii. If anyone has any information, we would appreciate it very much to hear from you.

Barbara,
I can give you information on the hotels taken from the many travel guides I have, but it is not firsthand information - haven't stayed at any of them. If you don't get any other replies, I could give you this info that I've found if you want it!

Aloha Barbara,
My husband and I took the same YMT seven years ago to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. This was our first trip to the islands and we were unsure of what we should see and do in paradise. The trip worked out well for us. We have been back to Hawaii twice since that trip and are now confident enough to plan our trips on our own. I would certainly consider traveling with YMT tours again if they offered varied itineraries to the islands. I have recommended the tour to many other first timers. I don't think you can beat their price.
The hotels are clean but certainly not of luxury quality. They were all located near or on the ocean and had pools. We ended up with an ocean view at each hotel at no extra cost. All of the YMT staff was helpful and courteous. We did some things with the group but also rented a car and toured on our own a lot. I'm sure you will have a great time. The year we went was just after Iniki so we were not able to go to Kaui.
E-mail me if I can answer any other questions for you.

I have stayed at some of the hotels. I would consider them to be basic, clean, budget hotels. The Kauai Sands is on a nonswimmable but walkable beach. I think it would depend on the price you want to pay. You may want to check the price against Plesant Hawaiian Holidays. Pleasant Holidays has a website and an 800 number.

My family just returned from a YMT vacation to Hawaii. You really can't beat it for the price. It is so nice to have some handle your luggage, inter-island flights, etc. The hotels are clean--not fancy, but totally adequate unless you are expecting the Four Seasons. We did not take any of the optional tours offered by YMT. It was very easy to rent a car and do similar itineraries on your own schedule. There are several "versions" of the tour. Different groups go to different islands after arriving in Oahu. One of the groups (that went to Kaui first) complained about having to get up very early to make connecting flights to the other islands.
