Yellowstone and/or Grand Teton Wildlife Photo Guide?

Has anyone had experience hiring a private wildlife photography guide or being part of a small group wildlife photography tour during a summer visit to Yellowstone and/or the Tetons? We'd rather not be with a gaggle of folks but we would like to have a morning and/or evening experience as up close and personal as it's safely possible to have. It seems like hiring someone knowledgeable about probable locations, best viewing vantage points, etc. would save time and wasted energy. Thank you!

falcon, I did my own tour when I was in Yellowstone. Have you tried the website yellowstone dot net? Or yellowstonereport dot com? There is a ton of information on them.

Yes, we've looked at those. However, when we were in Banff a few years ago, I hired a private guide as a gift to my husband and the experience was marvelous. Not only did he get taken to the right places at the right time for both wildlife and sun angle, but the photography tips made his pictures sensational. We'd like to duplicate that experiencein Yellowstone/GTNP if possible.

While this can't totally substitute for a live guide, I can highly recoomend an excellent book entitled "Photographer's Guide to Yellowstone & the Tetons" by Joseph K. Lange, published by Stackpole Books. I found it to be an incredibly helpful guide.

Thank you so much for this information. Whether or not we hire a guide, I'll definitely get the book!
