Wine Classes

I live in the metro nyc area and am looking for fun, informative wine tasting classes or events in manhattan (or lower Fairfield County, but there is probably not as much to choose from out here). Any thoughts on good ones would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The Institute of Culinary Education has fun informative classes (wine, cooking, spirits) as does the New School. I prefer ICE - they have series of classes, or individual classes focussing on wines from various regions, as well as wines in different price ranges. Another place to check is with your local wine merchant.

I found out about a Wine Captain's course (in the DC area) from a flyer in a local wine store.

You might want to check out the Chelsea Wine Vault. Pre-children, my wife and I went to several events they held and all were really interesting and informative. One had several wine makers from Bordeaux and from Napa, comparing and contrasting their wines.

The added bonus is that they'll offer discounts on the featured selections.

The founder-Lisa Allen- is fantastic. She is also available for private wine tasting parties... a keen alternative for engagement and bridal showers.
