Is there a point to this thread? "Why do hotels" as opposed to....what? B&Bs? Hostels? Apartments?
Some of us "do" hotels simply for a place to sleep and take a shower and could care less how many chairs, trashcans, or luggage racks a room has.

Oh lawsy to school the uninitiated.
GoTravel (now I'm getting eccentric referring to myself in third person) is the knower, seeer, and doer of all things travel. All things great travel.
I'm also right all the time
Seriously, if your room only has one chair, it is because there is limited space. Contrary to popular belief, not all hotels in the same category are created equally. Also, its location in the building will effect its size.
The handrails in the shower are usually reserved for ADA complient rooms.
If you only have one trashcan, the prior guest must have jacked all your trash cans.
Only use the luggage rack to unpack then fold it up and put it away.

"if your room only has one chair, it is because there is limited space"
Ah, GoT, there are always exceptions...sometimes there is more than adequate space for even a loveseat (last year's Bermuda trip comes to mind) but because some idiot removes the "inventory" from the room and can't find it, the room occupant is left to bring the balcony furniture into the room in order to have a place to sit, arrrrrgh!
Even those of us who are right all the time, can have an *off* day

Ed, I do know what you mean.
And if you weren't *Ed* but a different person / screen name posting this very same post, you would have every other poster *agreeing* with you.
Unfortunately on this forum, its not always *what* you post, but *who* is doing the posting.
In other words pal, you just have the *wrong* screen name.
Truth be told, most posters do agree with you.
Of course they will reply that I am wrong, you'll see.
Haha, just like being back in middle school.
Incidently, I just returned from a conference at a 4* hotel with a large room but only one small armchair, NO luggage rack and NO fan in the bathroom.
So I know what you mean.
Otherwise it was very nice.

How odd.

I love to travel; but after seeing hotel room cleanliness reports such as the one's featured on Dateline NBC or 60min's I think 1 armchair in a room is the least of our worries. It seems as though there is enough of a problem keeping one clean. The coverletts and the remote controls give me the creeps.
