Which hotel for Las Vegas after Christmas
I like the looks of the Venetian. Only do they have a spa on the property? I see Canyon Ranch.
Bellagio is too pricey.
Where else?
Is it that bad to be on the end of the strip like at Mandalay Bay?

Canyon Ranch is on property. No, it is not "bad" to beat the end of the Strip at Mandalay Bay. There is a free monorail connecting MB, Luxor and Excalibur and from the Excalibur you are across the street from NY, NY and MGM and Trop.
Some do prefer the Venetian because of its central location on the Strip. Mandalay Bay has Mamma Mia (since you were inquiring about shows on your other thread), the Venetian has Blue Man Group, my DH loved this show...I thought it was "so-so". Other possible hotels you may want to check (MB is very nice by the way), but check rates for Paris, Mirage, MGM, Monte Carlo, NY,NY...just depends what you want to see/do/spend. If you type in Venetian hotel in the search you'll see that many that have stayed there LOVE it, soyou probably couldn't go wrong.

I don't know what we want to do.
We arent big gamblers. We will go out to dinner and drinks. Shows.
Normally I would be at the pool but that is out. We are not going to road trip it. I promise we are not hard to please. We are just fish out of water for this one!

There's nothing wrong with any of the hotels you mentioned, or any that vegasnative suggested. You say you're fish out of water - so, why are you going to vegas? Any idea what you want in terms of dinner and shows? Do you mind walking/cabbing/monorailing to get to and from shows and dinner? What will you be doing during the day?
If you really have no idea what you want, first go by price, then flip a coin. You'll probably be happy at any of them, and if not, you probably won't have any way to know that in advance without more specific wants/needs.

I'm not sure how far or what dates you are looking at after Xmas. But if your dates are mid week and not around New Year's eve I would suggest bidding a 5 Star hotel on Priceline. You can start your bidding around $99 and the only 5 star that ever comes up (Bellagio has once) is the Venetian. Excellent mid strip location, nice spa and lots of variety in restaurants right there. Plus access to other large hotels in close proximity.
Check out www.biddingfortravel.com to learn the ropes on the best bidding route. Good Luck! If you are going during a holiday time or weekends, prices will be significantly higher, so you have to adjust your bids accordingly.

On our last trip to Vegas we stayed at the Luxor hotel, next to the Mandalay Bay, for 4 days and then moved to Venetian for a further 4 days.
Luxor is a great hotel, with everything you could want in a hotel. You don't have to leave the hotel, there is everything you could possibly need there. However part of the fun in Vegas is checking out all the other hotels on the strip and beyond. Try to go to the Freemont Street in downtown, as they have some street music, concerts and performers.
The Venetian is a true 5* and it is an experience, fantastic hotel. All the rooms are suites with two TVs and massive bathrooms with shower cubicle. The place is totally magical. Venetian do have a spa in the hotel, called the Canyon Ranch and the Canyon Ranch cafe.
There are sometimes some discount codes on fatwallet dot com that you can use to get lower price for hotels in Vegas, so maybe look there as well. Priceline is good, but be careful. There is no refund whatsoever, if you make a mistake. Right now, someone got the Venetian at $114 + tax, therefore saved maybe $50 or so. However I have got Venetian before for $99 during the slow season. if you ever want to try priceline, you must read through biddingfortravel.com carefully before you bid, otherwise you may end up losing your money.
We rented an SUV through priceline for $20 per day, so we didn't even feel that Luxor was too far down the strip. If you are planning to walk, it could be off-putting. It saves to rent a car, I believe some people have managed to rent a small car for $10 per day. Note that cabs can be expensive.
Ps: Not all visitors to Vegas gamble. There are so many things to do and see. Vegas is an experience, the shows, concerts, the hotels, the shopping, Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Freemont Street experience e.t.c. Do your research on this site and trip advisor dot com and you should find something to enjoy in Vegas, my husband doesn't gamble and I gamble a bit (for fun really)and we are going againin Dec 26th to 29th through our trip to LA. My advise to you if you are just a couple no kids, spend a bit extra and stay at the Venetian, you will love it. If you are going with kids, stay at the Luxor. Luxor has other things for different ages. Venetian is simply for grown ups. We went on our own last time, so we could try the two hotels. This time we are going with our two kids, and we will be staying at the Luxor.

The prices for the Venetian are running about $169 for a room during that time period. I think you could easily get it on Priceline for around $110-115 at the most, but I would start at $99 and work your way up in $5 increments using free rebids as explained at www.biddingfortravel.com.

frenchtoile, depending on where you live I have a suggestion that you might enjoy. If you decide to rent a car, go to Ethel M's chocolate factory at "night". They have a cactus garden outside that is completely lit with thousands of Christmas lights and it is truely a unique experience and very pretty. So, if cactus are not native to your neck of the woods, this might be a fun experience for you. It is free to tour the garden but I think the chocolate factory might charge a minimal fee to tour.
