where to secure notebook computer

Any suggestions on where to secure a notebook computer while traveling? The hotel safety deposit box is usually too small.

We lock larger items, such as the laptop, in a suitcase.

Do you have a cable lock that locks into the notebook?? You could wrap it around the bedframe or through a drawer pull or an exposed pipe or something in the room that would require a bit of dismantling to free the computer. That's how my daughter secures hers in the dorm!!

you can buy a lock for your computer that essentially is like a bike lock. You secure it to something else.

or if you buy a new laptop at some point, you can get a laptop that actually fits in the safe in the hotel room (like a Toshiba Portege or a Sony Vaio).

I chose my Toshiba P. for its performance, size, and low weight (and the fingerprint security feature), and it does fit in the little room safes. And if the room does not have a safe, I can fit it in my purse (even w/the padded cover on it) and take it w/me.
