What's Your Poison and What Are Your Easter Travel Plans?

I figured I'd start the thread a day early since tomorrow is a holiday in most places and many people will be traveling.

I'm having a glass of Pinot Grigio and thankful that I am home this weekend after being gone two out of the last four weeks between Houston and Manhattan (Brrr...was it ever cold up there when you are used to the tropics). Both were basically "business" trips, although I did get to spend some time with family in Houstonn and had some well earned pampering done at a spa in Manhattan.

No travel plans for me this holiday weekend, but I am going to enjoy having four days off (Easter Monday is also a holiday here) and I'm even more thrilled that my DH will be off on Saturday and Sunday. We don't have much in the way of plans other than some catching up at home after my recent travels and perhaps a nice brunch out on Sunday.

So, where are you traveling to for the Easter holiday, or what are you cooking if you're staying home? Looking for all you foodies ideas, too.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone! Even if you don't celebrate Easter.

I second the beer!

Having turkey with my family on Saturday and prime rib with DH's family on Sunday.

Just returned from San Francisco on Monday so no more travel plans until summer camping trips and a weekend in Jasper National Park in July. Also returning to New York either autumn of this year or spring 2006

Happy Easter all!

I'm at home, too, hosting the whole gang this year. Thank goodness they think that a ham covered with a glaze is fancy cookin'. To make it extra-fancy, I'll have asparagus instead of the usual green beans.

Both sons are home from college, and the fridge is stocked with the most important ingredient...the HAM!

LOL, anonymous, that's exactly how my kids see that darn ham! We too will be having asparagus, but I will be the only one eating them Yum!

I'm going to my in-laws after church in the morning for the Polish breakfast - I'll skip the Polish sausage, though.

My parents will come to my house later for dinner....ravioli and Italian sausage and my yummy meatballs and pork! No hams or turkeys at my house on the holidays.

Bring on the butter lambs!!!

My poison at the moment is white burgundy....and will most likely be thru Saturday.

Not traveling far, just to my family's house and I get to be a guest for a change!

The only thing we are responsible for is the alcohol, which is easy..champagne, wine and vodka...my kind of holiday...and easter baskets for the kids.

We will be leaving for vacation next Sunday....can't wait to get out of the NY weather.

DH called me from Kroger last night to see if I needed anything so I had him pick up a bottle of Merlot. He picked upa Talus Collection Lodi Merlot from CA. Never heard of it. No idea how much it cost. Not bad...

The family is headed to Anna Maria Island this weekend for spring break. My parents are meeting us on Sunday- hopefully for a boat outing but that depends on the weather (looks like showers) and the red tide situation. I haven't even thought of Easter dinner plans.

I'm kind of hoping GoTravel will show up with a bag full of roast oysters. I can taste them already. I have an extra bedroom for you in the beach house if you want to keep the oysters coming all week long!!!

Just some decaf. coffee tonight- hard week and I'm too pepped up and hyper because my Illini is playing. Sweet 16 down to eight tonight. D. Brown looks like he is on. GO ILLINI!

All coming by me (about 28)and we are not having ham. We are having a catered variety this time and also my chicken marsala and spinach/cheese ravioli in butter sauce. All are well and peace to everyone.

Hi Statia, honey
A tall glass of Coca-Cola with lots of ice to go with my plain chicken sandwich.

We celebrated my birthday for two nights with rich food and desserts and lots of kir and Red wine and I just wanted something plain...
Have a Happy Holiday weekend!
I will be out in the garden, where flowers are popping up all over the place! Pup and the Yankee will be on the patio watching me and figuring out where and when the next trip is gonna be

I'm enjoying a post-dinner glass of cabernet -- for which I'll probably have a raging headache later.

Usually we travel for spring break and holidays, but we've decided to stay put this year. On Easter, we will be "traveling" about 50 miles across the Chicago area to Evanston to have a hopefully fabulous Italian meal at a restaurant owned by a friend of ours. Otherwise, we will be anxiously awaiting next week's 60-degree temps.

Happy long weekend, everyone.

Hi Statia, I am running around trying to get organized for my trip to Atlanta about a week from now.

Had a baked potato and a huge artichoke tonight , as ate too much yesterday. And having a glass of chardonnay I am sipping on (second one actually) while making a "to do" list and trying to get organized.

My 14 year old grandson is coming here tomorrow for the weekend. Easter dinner with the family.

A beautiful weekend to everyone!

Yes, congrats to SAnparis.
Last night I had a terific glass(es) of Pinot Grigio. I practically polished off the whole bottle.....
I will stay home for Easter as both sides of the family live here. Looking forward to Easter brunch & egg hunt with the little ones, then the Formal dinner at my mother-in-law's. Just roll me out.

I think I will just have tea or something tonight.

SAnParis-
Let us know if it's a boy or girl so we'll know if we're Aunts or Uncles.

Ravenswood on sale. Had a bottle of Zin last night. May open up the Cab soon.
