We're staying home.

Our daughter and family - three gorgeous girls - are coming over for dinner.

Steak in a Bag.

I found some Theastston's "Old Peculiar" when I went out to get the wine.

The daughter told us about a wine called "Seven Zins" I like Zinfadel so we will see.

Merry Christmas and Hag Semeach from the Scots Hotel in Tiberias, Israel. Looking out the hotel window right now at Lake Kinneret, aka the Sea of Galilee, on a seriously rainy day. The Scots hotel is interesting - owned and operated by the Church of Scotland, so complete with the Celeidh Bar, where a nip of decent single-malt poison will set you back 60 shekels, around US$14. So our poison (Friday shabbat dinner) was a remarkable nouveau Gamay Beaujolais from one of the fine vinyards in the Golan Heights, just across the lake. Aged on the truck, as we say.

So L'chaim and peace to all from the Galilee. Back in the US for new years, where the poison is cheaper and the buildings somewhat newer... duh.

I'm staying at Snowmass Village and have been enjoying a Mondavi Pinot Noir for apres ski the past couple of days.

The weather is unbelievable this week. Aspen had a record high of 46 on Thursday and it has been around 40 at the base of Snowmass and in the mid 30s at the summit the past two days of skiing.

Epic snow. No crowds. The best conditions in memory. First celebrity spotting yesterday. Harold Ramis (Ghostbusters) was chatting with some ski instructors at the Snowmass Mall.

Can someone pass me some ibuprofin?

Just killing time before heading up the road to the Strasburg Hotel for our special Christmas Dinner.

Later today we'll just sit back and sip Calvados.

Had an Uraguaian "organic" Pinot Noir and a real Port after dinner.
We're on the beach in Barra de Navidad (Isla de Navidad), Jalisco.
Feliz Navidad.

As are you, amw, we also are enjoying the beautiful weather in Colorado. It will reach 65 today with plenty of sunshine in Denver. I've slipped away from the eye spiraling selection of games that santa has brought the babies to check e-mails. Talked to everyone back home while working the kitchen helping DW prepare a rib roast. Today's poison to accomany the roast will be an Amarone della Valpolicella. Buon Natale & Felice Anno Nuovo!

It's Christmas evening. I am home in New Orleans and considering opening that bottle of Pinot Noir that I have been saving. We traveled 30 miles north of Lake Ponchartrain to my cousin's house since her home did not flood. We compared photos of family homes that were a total loss and talked about our "evacuation vacations". The food was excellent as usual and we watched our home videos dating back to 1960 that had been saved. We are truly blessed to have each other and it was a beautiful day.

Just finished off the BEST rib roast ever! DW out-did herself this time. The Amarone was a fine accompaniment. Over dessert, we voted by secret ballot on next Christmas' getaway. Shhh, only Dad knows the result- it'll be a surprise for the family. So check in with me in a few months on the "Where are you traveling for the Holidays" thread. AMW, what are your dates for Scottsdale? I'd love to share Columbus notes with you and Japan notes with emd over a glass of wine! We'll be in Palm Springs in February, just a short drive away. Does that work? And of course, as mentioned, you're welcomed to join us in Denver for The Fiesta Bowl. Go Buckeyes!!!

Poison is my usual VO Manhattan.

Travel was the whopping 40 miles to Indianapolis for the Christmas weekend. I had a Priceline bid at a downtown Indy hotel for Thu., Fri. and Sat. nights.

A little "Merry Christmas to Me!" time. Some shopping for me. Some nice meals for me. An extra drinky-poo or two for me. A movie or two for me. Ahhh. I love "me" time.

Then all the 10 minutes to Beech Grove Sunday morning for Christmas with nieces and a nephew along with various brothers, sisters-in-law and the dad-ster.

Next up is New Year's Eve near Ann Arbor Michigan with college friends. We'll stay at home and enjoy each others' company for the holiday. Much, much safer than driving on "amateur night."

Be careful and safe and enjoy the next holiday everyone!

I just found this post because I spent my Christmas weekend in Vegas! Poison all weekend long; usually in Vegas it's shots of Absolut with a 7Up back.
