What is the best oceanfront condo/beach house etc on Poipu Beach?

My fiance and I will be on our honeymoon in May and we are looking to find a place with great views and easy access to beaches, resturants etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

There aren't a huge number of condo's dirctly on the beach in Poipu although there are a few on the rocky coastline.
Whaler's Cove is an upscale condo with beautiful views. You can rent directly through their office or get better prices through Suite Paradise.

Garden Island Rentals handles of number of beach front rentals around the Baby Beach area. They also have a couple near Brenneke's Beach. We rented once through Gloria's and were unimpressed with the service we received.

Kiahuna Plantation is a large condo complex on Poipu Beach. Most of the units are not directly on the beach but there is a group of owners who market their beachfront units there on their own website. If you do a websearch under Kiahuna Plantation rentals, you should be able to find them. These units are choice but a little pricey.

If you have the budget, I would also check out the Gillan Beach House on Maha'ulepu past the Hyatt on the far edge of Poipu. The house sits on a beautiful remote stretch of beach about 10 minutes past the Hyatt. People can visit the beach during the day but at night the area is closed and only the renters of this home are allowed it. It's pretty special, a definate honeymoon retreat. Enjoy!

Hi beth I can't help you on the condos but what I will tell is you take a short walk left from Hyatts beach. This means that you will have to visit this hotel if only to check out the grounds. You sort of climb up a small hill once over you have very rugged coast line breaking into the ocean. I have been to Kauai about 10 times total over the past 8 years and I never knew about this place. Oddly enough neither do most of the Hyatt Guests. After the hill you come across fisherman in summer oh but you are there in May (might be different).

Anyway do this short walk, I still can't get the image out of my head so much natural beauty, such rich colors. I think the area might be called Maha ‘ulepu but I am reluntant to tell you that and lead you in another direction.

You will want to visit the Hyatt at some point if you are in Poipu for dinner or Friday night hula show. Get there around 4 and do this walk, you will be away from tourist and have stunning views.

Mary is there a website for Gillan Beach House? I did a search and came up with nothing.

We rented a condo for $185/night at Makahuena through Gloria about 2 years ago. YUCK !!! Peeling, chipping paint and filthy windows and tacky/cheap furniture in the master bedroom. It was ocean front, but the balcony at the unit was unusable. The deck and patio furniture were so disgusting that we never even sat outside.

Never Again!

Hi Maggi!

Here's another beachfront house called Hale Makai that we looked at (ended up staying on North Shore) - a real beauty...

MY WIFE AND I HAVE STAYED IN POIPU 2 TIMES AND EACH TIME WE ARRANGED ACCOMIDATIONS AT A PRIVATE COTTAGE CALLED THE DONOUGHUE COTTAGE THRU GLORIAS BED AND BREAKFAST. IT IS A QUAINT COTTAGE RIGHT ON THE OCEAN, VERY ROMANTIC,NICELY FURNISHED BUT NO MAID SERVICE. IT HAS A PRIVATE BEACH,2 DOORS DOWN FROM THE BEACH HOUSE RESTAURANT AND GREAT SNORKLING ALSO. I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT. HOPE THIS HELPS
