What do you think of our busy schedule?
We've now come up with some kind of itinerary for our trip, thanks to all your help! What do you think of this?
Day 1, arrive late to Boston.
Day 2, spend all day in Boston (duck tour, do we have to book it now?, Newbury str, Beacon Hill, Harvard, Back Bay and South End, Old Town, Paul Revere and more)
Day 3, Breakfast in Boston before driving to Kennebunkport and spend a few hours there before we leave for Quebec, where we arrive at night.
Day 4, Spend half day in Quebec before driving to Montreal.
Day 5, Spend half day in Montreal before leaving for Vermont and the Green Mnt.
Arrive in NH, Meredith at night.
Day 6, Spend the day in NH and Squam Lake and RELAX. (I welcome any suggested tours or sights for us to see!I loved the movie On Golden Pond, and would love to see their house! Or places to stay in Meredith?)
Day 7, Leave for CT, have all day CT.
Spend the night there.
Day 8, Leave for Rhode Island and Cape Cod.
Spend the night there.
Day 9, More Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
Day 10,Open for suggestions for this day before going to Boston and leave the next day.
I know some of you are going to think this is brutal and too much. But we're used to being on the go and see as much as possible.
We do need to book a hotel in Montreal, Meredith and Cape Cod. But we are trying to hold back on our spendings, so we don't mind staying in cheaper motels. Any suggestions? Cape Cod doesn't seem to be all booked up at this point, are we safe just waiting to book that one since we're thinking of staying a little bit outside maybe? Or is this where we need to splurge a little bit?

schnookies, it certainly is busy!
Am I reading this correctly--you are going all the way from Maine to Quebec City then Montreal, half a day in each place, then back to Vermont? Why?
Montreal and Quebec city are lovely, but hardly worth driving for many hours just to turn around. Don't forget to factor in border crossings, which may be only half an hour each way, but could be up 3 hours each direction.
If you skip Canada, you are saving lots of time and mileage so that you can actually see some of the other places on your list...Trying to do a state a day seems very stressful to me. I'm sure you have some idea of what you want to see, but it still seems like a lot of "getting to" places, without seeing much

With all due respect....are you kidding? Do you have any desire to experience any of your destinations? I would not even consider spending a half a day in your many destinations. Really this has to be a joke, or you are gunho in a mileage thing.....how many destinations in this little time. You are spending on night in RI and the Cape? And one day to do the Cape and two islands?
I really would sincerely like to help you, but I am not convinced with this iterary that you are sincere in your plans.
Safe journey

Schnookies: You have started at least 14 threads about this insane trip. Unfortunately - on most of thos threads you don't mention your itinerary in full so folks are actually giving you recommendations. BUT you will have no time at all for ANY of those wonderful suggestions.

Other than Boston and Cape Cod, I don't see anyway on this itinerary where you can actually see anything. For example day 5:
Spend half day in Montreal before leaving for Vermont and the Green Mnt.
Arrive in NH, Meredith at night.
Were you planning on just waving at the Green Mountains? They cover half the state of Vermont.
I hope you realize these negative and/or jokey comments are actually serious suggestions. I don't even know when you were planning to do this trip, but it sounds like a nightmare at any time of the year

I too like to be busy while travelling, but this seems like really not too much fun at all. Just because something is technically do-able does not make it logical or enjoyable. Consider doing less in terms of miles and having more fun... And then let us know how it went.

This itinerary is impossible. Simply impossible.
I know you want to see EVERYHTING in NE but you can't, you'll need to save at least half of it for another trip.
Forget about Canada. Pick 3 places and be done with it.

FYI it is not possible to see Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard in the same day. With ferries and travel, its simply not possible.
Your day in Boston is not possible, unless you intend to sit in a taxi, and have them drive you past all those places so you can say you saw them.
Honestly, I don't understand your trip. Do you have a check list of stuff you need to say you saw? if so, this is probably..no wait. I don't think its possible without some folds in the space time continuum.

Frankly, it's nuts! I'm not sure it is even physically possible. I don't understand why you aren't listening to anything we've all tried to help you with since you started posting.
And YES you need to book ahead if you want to "hold back your spending". Especially because you don't allow anytime on this crazy itinerary to be schlepping around town(s) looking for budget accommodations.

Ok, you've convinced us that it IS too much driving and we decided to take out Canada out from our trip. Maybe we are trying to see and do too much in ten days. So we're sticking to NE

schnookies: Good that you are cutting out the Canada legs. BUT - you still only have 9 days (Day one doesn't count since you say you arrive late) and you don't have time for even just the New England bit. That is what we all said the itinerary was crazy - even cutting out Quebec and Montreal doesn't help that much.
Which 3 places do you most want to visit? Then plan an itinerary around them.

I think maybe I already said this before, on one of the other posts(?) With 10 days arriving and leaving Boston, with no reservations... I think you could do a nice loop. Leave Boston asap, and go up into southern New Hamshire (say Keene), cross into southern Vermont (maybe Brattleboro), tour around a bit on the Connecticut River, head west over thru Marlboro out to Bennington. The go down into western Massachusetts (Northampton, Amherst). Maybe even hit the Berkshires (but tough without reservations in foliage season). Head back over to Boston. This part of these three states are gorgous, and would make a reasonable 1-1/2 week itinerary.
