Well, here I am, born and raised in the Deep, Deep South, with an accent from the Philadelphia area, I've never even traveled in that area. Makes you wonder, doesn't it!!!

I'm Inland North too, but, I was born and raised 140 miles west of Boston. I guess that's inland, and Bostonians probably thought the western part of MA was somewhere out yonder in the Midwest too.

My Mom was from Ohio....could that be the source of my confused accent?

How bizarre - here's another person from Hawaii that was told that my accent was from Boston.

Philadelphian "as a cheesesteak" to quote the test; no surprises there! (And they didn't even ask about "wooder", "shtreet", "Chrain" or "mintins".)

I do have to say, though, that my dialect isn't as pronounced as some; I'm usually tagged with the vague "Mid Atlantic" and folks from the West have asked if I'm English!

Philadelphia? I grew up in central, rural Kentucky and live in Louisville. I think I sound like a country-girl Kentuckian.

I'm from Buffalo and here is my response:

You may think you speak &quot;Standard English straight out of the dictionary&quot; but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like &quot;Are you from Wisconsin?&quot; or &quot;Are you from Chicago?&quot; Chances are you call carbonated drinks &quot;pop.&quot;

I guess the Buffalo accent does sound Midwestern because people often ask me if I am from Chicago. And, I do call it pop, not soda.

When I lived in the south, they said I talked like I was a Yankee, when I lived in Philly they said I talked like a southern belle, when I lived in Utah they said I sounded like I was from England or Austrailia, so I have decided that I probably have a nasal twang caused by bad adnoids.!!!~! yeah baby!!!!

Mine came out North Central. I'm actually from the northeast but have lived all over. And it was right that people often think I'm from Canada.

Mine was completely wrong! The quiz gave me a Boston accent! NOT! Besides, there is more than one Boston accent--Brahmin or Southie? My BIL is a Southie and I don't sound anything like him, even though he graduated from Harvard.

My father is a Mayflower descendent, but he grew up in Philadelphia, not Boston. My mother is English--her mother was Welsh.

Midland for me. Sounds about right since I am from Denver.

It says I have no accent which is absolutely true, because here in Austin, TX we have no accent. But the rest of y'all do.
