WAILEA ELUA

We are visiting Maui in June and are considering the Wailea Elua condominoums. Has anyone stayed at this property? And if so what was your experience? Is it an older property, what are the facilities like, how's the servcie etc. We're also considering Kea Lani (I know they are different type properties but we haven't settled the condo vs hotel question either. Fortunately there is lots of info in this forum on Kea Lani so we know it would be a good choice if we went in that direction) Thanks for your help

Hi...I have not been there myself, but know someone who has and they really enjoyed it. It was perfect for them. Now, we stayed at the Kea Lani and really enjoyed it. It is a great property with great suites. Feel free to email for more info if you decide to go the Kea Lani route. I do have a couple books that have a description of the Elua and a condo rating from about 4 years back. If you feel that would help, contact me. Annemarie

Have never stayed at the Elua but know of a friend that did and they enjoyed it. We stayed at the Kea Lani and loved it. Beautiful property with great suites. I do have some books that give some info on the Elua, so if you are interested, feel free to email me directly. Annemarie

I just arrived home from 9 nights on Maui. I also had the same problem deciding between a condo and hotel suite. I was there with my husband and two kids, so we wanted to have at least a one bedroon suite.

I ended up staying 3 nights at the Napili Kai Beach Club (condo) in Napili (just south of Kapalua) and 5 nights at the Kea Lani. I enjoyed both places.

The NKBC is located on a beautiful calm bay with crystal clear water and great snorkeling. It's also a 5 minute walk from Kapalua Bay which was just as beautiful. The convienence of the condo was nice. The property was nicely landscaped, has four pretty basic pools and a large jacuzzi. The property had a low-key Hawaiian feeling.

I also enjoyed being in the lap of luxury at the Kea Lani. Everything about it is very nice..especially the pool area. My kids loved the 140 foot waterslide. It was alot busier than the condo. The KL is on Polo Beach which is pretty small and not too calm. The hotel is more oriented around the fun pool area and nice landscaping. The beaches in the Napili/Kapalua area were alot prettier and better for snorkeling.

One of the beaches that I visited in Wailea was Ulua Beach, which I think is where the Elua Condos are. I only saw the outside of the condos, but the property looked well maintained. Ulua beach is one of the best beaches along the Wailea coast.

Depending on how much time you have, you might consider staying at a hotel and a condo in different areas of the island for some variety. I probably would have liked to be at the NKBC at least another night.

The KL and the NKBC both have great websites with video tours of the rooms and properties
