FYI we are all 60+ - going to Valrico at the end of August (hot I know) to see my grand baby who will have been born around July 13. Plan to take 2-3 days going as well as 2-3 days on return trip.

That is a very long drive for just two days so better make it three . . .

Probably to Atlanta and then I-75 one way and I-10 via Mobile/Pensacola the other.. But ether route would be about 20 hours 'car time'.

First night in Memphis, TN. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g...Vacations.html
See at least Beale Street.
The second night in either Troy or Dothan Alabama.
Atlanta is a pretty long detour.
If you choose 2 10 hour days, shoot for Birmingham, AL.
