To those who have to pay, be glad that you make enough money to owe.

To those who are getting a refund, either you paid in too much or are not making very much.

Just sign me happy to make enough to pay!

Or you have a great accountant! We always get a hefty refund, that's the way we like it. We know we're overpaying but so what? Oh, and we make quite a bit, in fact I'm sure we pay double in taxes then what most people earn, so it's not necessarily true that those who get money back don't make much.

"Great accountants" do not equal big refunds. Doesn't matter how "good" your accountant is, unless he/she breaks a law, there's nothing in the accoutant's power to increase your refund.

BTW, to those dopes who go to somewhere like HR Block or Jackson Hewitt to get their taxes done: the people doing your taxes are not accountants or even tax professionals. They are people who took a 6-week part-time course in tax preparation. If you want a professional, you have to pay a professional, which means a CPA with tax experience, or a tax attorney, or a former IRS agent.

Right Jan, but a very good accountant or tax attorney knows all the loopholes, deductions, write-offs etc. to get you the biggest possible refund without breaking the law. Why else would anyone pay them the big bucks?
