Suggestions For Sunday Morning In NYC?
Sunday will be our last day in NYC. We will have just enough time to enjoy a nice breakfast before we have leave for the airport. Our flight leaves at 1:00 PM. Any suggestions? We are staying at the Marriott Marquis.

My family and I had a wonderful Sunday morning brunch a week ago at a small French cafe at the corner of Lexington and 62nd call Mon Petite Cafe. We arrived at 11:00 and the place was almost empty; an hour later when we left, it was almost full. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. One of the best meals we had in NYC durign our stay and certainly the best value.

If your flight leaves at 1:00 that means you'll have to be at the airport at 11 - 11:30 and that means you'll have to leave the hotel at around 10:15 - 10:30, and that means you'll have to be sitting down for breakfast by 9:00, so you don't really have too many options. You're in a nice hotel, so why not have a good, hearty breakfast there and then head on your way?

I love dim sum breakfast in Chinatown, but in my experience they are served at something more like brunch time, like at noon. Though--I've gone down there at maybe 10:30 looking for them, and instead found Vietnamese places open, which was also fab.

Paula, my favorite places in the city for brunch are Sara Beths on the West Side [I'm guessing somewhere around 70th St.] and Cafe de Artistes [I think that is on Central Park west and 66th] The Renaissance Hotel, which is located across the street from your hotel, has a great view of Times Square, and the loacation would be more convenient, considering the time factor.

Myself, I just like some kind of pastry thing and coffee for breakfast so I might take a quick walk to Ninth Ave & 39th St (near Port Authority bus terminal) to the Cupcake Cafe for a donut (cake kind) or muffin. It's a small place - you might be able to sit there. Another takeout place with only outdoor seating - but great food - is Good & Plenty on 43rd St just west of Ninth Ave, next to Esca. They're open at least by 8am on weekdays. If you want to take more of a walk you can say goodbye to Rockefeller Center and drink coffee at Dean & DeLuca there.
If you are a heartier breakfast eater, there's always the very New York Carnegie Deli.
