Spring Break Getaway?
Spring break is coming up, and we want to find someplace for some family fun. We aren't looking at a big trip for some sunny weather, but something close by for a weekend. A resort would be nice, with maybe an indoor pool for the kids.

Sorry about that... I guess the snow and cold numbed the brain!
We live in Michigan. I don't want to travel for more than 4 - 5 hours for just a weekend excursion. We went to Chicago last year which was fun, but I would like to try something new. What about Toronto?
Any suggestions?

Haven't been to Toronto, but my parents travel there quite a bit, and take their "little brother" with them. He loves it.
Also, the US dollar is still very strong against the Canadian dollar, so I say go with your idea. Also, think about Quebec. Or maybe Banff.

Faye,
I grew up in the Detroit area so I understand the cold numbing the brain
I went to Toronto twice as a kid, but I went as an adult last April. Had a great time! We went to the Hockey Hall of Fame. We also got an elderly man in the old Maple Leaf Gardens to give us a tour-we just walked in through an open door-just tell them you are tourists
. We went to a playoff game in the new Air Canada centre (overrated venue in my opinion-the old Gardens was more hockey-like).
The Science Centre is great also.
You can drive to Niagara Falls and Buffalo in two hours.
I think it takes 3-4 hours to drive from Detroit to Toronto.

If you live in Detroit, Lexington Kentucky is about 6 hours away and April is a great time to visit. You can go to Keeneland race track, visit horse farms & the KY Horse Park. Louisville starts its Derby Festival events in April including the great fireworks display Thunder over Louisville. Cincinnati is also a nice city. If you're looking for a resort area French Lick, Indiana is supposed to be nice although I've never been there.
