I understand that dining in the Space Needle is a neat experience. Also been told it's a bit "pricey". Can anyone tell me just HOW "pricey". We are considering trying it in June, but want to know approx. what we're in for. Just had a dinner in Calif.(Wine Country) where the tab was over $800 for four of us!! Not ready for that again anytime soon!!

From what I understand, the quality is not worth the price. If you do a search for Space Needle on google, you will probably find an online menu for the restaurant.

Go to www.chowhound.com and search the Pacific Northwest board there. I'm sure you'll get some feedback.

The Space Needle offers a great view of Seattle while you dine. The food was okay, but nothing to get real excited about.

You can easily see the menu and prices if you just check the Space Needle web site. I just checked for you and the prices for entrees range from the low $30's to the high $40's. I don't have the web address, but if you just put Space Needle in the search field it will come up.

I've eaten there 2-3 times and agree that the food is OK, but nothing exceptional. Expect to spend $30-40 per person not including wine. If it is a clear day, you have great views while you relax and eat.

It's supposed to be better than it was, but it is really (did I say really) expensive. You can eat in one of our superb restaurants (Cascadia, Georgian Room, Dahlia Lounge, etc.) for less. But many people consider the Space Needle very romantic. If it's cloudy, I'd pass it by.

Think we will probably do the Space Needle, take in the view but skip the dinner there idea. Would rather go for the "excellent food" somewhere. Appreciate the tips.

My wife and I have eaten there for lunch, it is true that it is a little pricey but lunch is always cheaper than dinner. Plus they wave the usual fee to go up to the top of the space needle which would run you probably 15 bucks for two. So take that off the price of the meal and it isn't so bad. The relaxing view is worth it as well.

If your there on a Sunday, you might look into the Sunday Brunch..very good

A rule of them with restaurants: if the location is a major part of the attraction, don't expect exceptional food.
Not always true, but seems to be especially true with sky view restaurants.

dwoodliff> Did the brunch several years ago. It was around $30 at that time. I recall the usual brunch items, fruit, pasties, all you could eat,,then you had your choice of several differant entrees. The entrees were not "self serve" but made to order.

HI Bethie! I would try one of the Tom Douglas' places in Seattle. The Dahlia Lounge was a true Seattle experience. The pressed duck app is amazing and the crabcakes are VERY good!!

We also enjoyed the Flying Fish and Salty's on Alki Beach. I've been hearing really good things about Union and Salumi on Chowhound.com Have fun! ***kim***

just wanted to thank you for all your input. I've been planning our cross country trip for several months and you have stuck with me with great advice on a lot of it. Have you ever been to North Dakota? Can't get answers to ANYTHING about Fargo or Medora, in which we are spending a night each on our way east from Glacier.I'm sure that tells me something but.......Beth(ie)

For the life of us, neither my husband nor I can remember the name of the restaurant. We stayed in Yountville and it was about 10 mins. down the road. Friend who made all the arrangements is out of town or I'd ask her. It was one of those 5 course meals with a different wine at each course. Was an experience but..........Will definitly get back to you when my next question re Oregon comes up. Thanks.

I had dinner at the Space Needle recently with some coworkers on a business trip to Seattle. The view was gorgeous! Loved how the whole floor spinned slowly so that every time you look up it is a different view. That was the highlight of our trip. The food was not exceptional but not bad either. Very expensive. One of us ordered the icecream dessert with dry ice, and we had such a blast with all the smoke. It was a very memorable evening and I took some great night shots of the city.
