Some suggestions please

My husband and I are visiting Alaska in the first week of August. Our main aim to see as much as possible. We fly into Anchorage. I would like to know how we could spend about 7 days there. I heard the must sees are the Glaciers,Denali National Park and a day cruise. We haven't yet booked the car. Also, how many days should we spend in each place?

Thank You.

Nutty, I can see, this is your first post ever. I can suggest to re-post your question with "Alaska" in it. This will draw attention of others who'd been there.

Usually posts like "help" or "vacation" or "suggestions" are ignored.

My husband & I spent 2 1/2 months in Anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks, Inside Passage. We rented a student apt. in Anchorage from the University of Alaska - good price! Bought a discount coupon book that year at the grocery store and saved money and saw so much. We had rented a car for a month and went back to add on and all were taken BUT we did find a Toyota dealer near downtown that had a fleet of cars and they rented to us. You are spending enough time but have fun anyway. The Alaska Information Center downtown has some wonderful program at no charge. You will enjoy those.

Nutty, there's been some good itineraries planned and posted recently. Do a search of "Alaska" and you'll find plenty of advice. Due to the distances involved expect to spend some time just driving. For example, although it's about a 3 hour drive from Anchorage to Seward (where you can take a wonderful day cruise) you will want to stop along the way to take pictures, take a tram ride up Mt Alyeska, etc and so you'll take 5 or 6 hours to get there. Don't try to see as much as possible, you'll get worn out.

Thank You for the responses. Does anyone know of a good website which clearly shows all the siteseeing spots of Alaska. I got a few online but they either weren't clear enough or not detailed enough!

On the left, look for "Top 10 Alaskan to-do's" which I topped for you to read. Read other threads here, too. You will find tons of information about traveling in Alaska. You need to do lots and lots of reading/research to familarize yourself with Alaska and make the most of your trip. There is no better place to start than here.

With a week you would have 4 days used with Denali Park and Seward- top tour choices for wildlife. With those 2 areas, consider adding Homer, Fairbanks, Anchorage/Palmer. Any one of those. Basic is to allow TIME, distances are vast and I see frequent underestimates. Head to your library and take out Fodor's Alaska and Frommer's Alaska, 2 good concise reading.
