Slow?

Is anyone else finding the site painfully slow?

Read the "Safe Neighborhood in Charleston" thread. It's getting entertaining.

FWIW, a few days ago I thought it (and other sites) was slow but was my problem. The cache on my Firefox browser setting was filling up. Default cache was 50meg, I changed it to 200meg. Much better/faster now.

This site has gotten so bad I don't read it with near the frequency of the past; it freezes up one computer (mine) and I have to re-boot anytime I try to read in the forums and on a co-worker's computer (as now) it runs with the speed of a cold molasses compress congealing on damp moss. What a shame; it used to be so much fun to read. And no, there are just three computers in this office and nothing weird or unusual about them except their obvious distaste for this web site and no strange exotic protection against martian space bugs installed to intefer with Fodors. I suggest the gurus who designed the changes need to go back to work; actually the way it was worked pretty darned well.

It is so slow (just timed it and it was almost 45 sec. after clicking on this thread for it to come up!) that I am almost at the point of giving up Fodors for now, which is a shame because I've been addicted since 2001. I find I am clenching my teeth with frustration, which is not a good thing. It has been like this for a few weeks now. Hopefully, it can be "fixed"?

I'm not seeing the slowness others are, knock-on-wood. But I do empathize with them. Continuing slow response is maddening and you can put up with it for only so long before you give up. I would hope that Fodors has bench marks for response before and after the redesign and thus knows the truth about response times. But they aren't telling us.

For the last couple of days I have not been able to log on- 25 minutes almost on but no further - then it wouldn't accept my password so now I have re-registered and finally have managed to get on- but I am really tired from trying and am now going to sleep. (I got rid of Firefox because I think since I upgraded things got worse) So now I have no Bookmarks and enough is enough!! it's not fun anymore.
