Skiing in Colorado with toddlers!!! Has anyone just done it!??
Hi all,
We are looking to go to Colorado skiing this winter coming with twin boys who will be 3 and a half when we go. We are are open to suggestions about
A) resorts recommendations
B) any hotel recommendations
Has anyone just been this winter with toddlers? I have heard good things about Snowmass.
Ideally we would like a hotel with a family room or a family room with a kitchenette. Also, although Vail sounds very nice, it sounds very expensive. We just need a nice clean room, in a good resort, that would be walkable for little ones.
We will put the little ones in a ski school for a couple of mornings, but need a resort with other things to do as well, as I expect their attention span to skiing will be limited. May be a coupe of half days in a crèche or similar.

The ski schools for that age are good about taking them out and bringing them in for snacks and coloring. It is between baby sitting and teaching them to ski. And if it is very cold, they need to come in a lot.
Breckenridge or Steamboat might be places to look. Snowmass is great.
I'd choose it on the basis of where you would like to ski--there will be something for kids. Be prepared for sticker shock for what you want to rent!

Some of the ski resorts have day care for kids under 5, in addition to the ski school. The ski schools are very good at keeping 3 year olds entertained for the day. Usually, they will ski for about an hour or two in the morning and afternoon. In between, they play inside, take hot chocolate breaks, eat lunch, and spend a lot of time getting into and out of their jackets, mittens, helmets, etc. Three year olds are expected to be fully potty trained, and able to take of their bathroom needs on their own. The three year olds who go to daycare are usually ones who don't like the cold and snow, or are still napping in the afternoon.
