Shopping for Christmas ornaments in Boston in July
Hi,
First I have to tell you that I am very into Christmas decorations. Every Christmas I put up 2 Christmas trees, a traditional one and one with ornaments that I've collected from every vacation I've been on.
I will be in Boston next week and am wondering if there is a store where I will find Christmas ornaments at this time of the year.
Thanks for your help

Me too.
Any tourist shop will have small items that you can "rework" to make a Christmas ornament. Key chain doodads can be removed from the chain and hung on the tree. You'll see a multitude of small lobsters, Red Sox logos, Swan boats, Paul Revere statues etc... just keep an open mind and use your imagination. Quincy Market and the Downtown Crossing areas will have many tourist shops carrying such things. I bet some even carry Xmas ornaments all year long.
The following shops are by crafters and may not have specific "Boston" items but will have quality items that could go on a holdiay tree. (They both gear up with Christmas ornaments nearer the holidays but not sure if they would have anything so early.)
Cambridge Artists Coop - Harvard Square

Sign of the Dove - Porter Square

And most historic sites with a gift shop will carry ornaments too:
The Museum of Fine Arts has a store in Quincy Market (not sure what they have at this time of year), but you can also find some ornaments on their online shop link:
http://www.mfashop.com/ornaments.html
or the Constitution Museum in Charlestown:

The Old North Church Shop:

and so forth.
There's got to be a year round "Christmas shop" in town somewhere - I see them in all heavily touristed cities, but I don't know where there is one in Boston... maybe someone else might know.
best, K.

There is a Christmas shop right in Faneuil Hall called the Christmas Dove. Lots of Boston ornaments. I went there a few years back to find ornaments for all the local sports teams for a wreath I was making.

I was in Boston at the end of May and I found several, reasonable priced ornaments in the Museum of Fine Arts shop at Quincy Market.
I also collect ornaments and magnets from all of the places and events that I visit.
