Where would the best beach area to search for SEAGLASS? I will be in Salem, Gloucester, Bearneck, Rockport, MA. Next week we'll be in Fairmouth, Sandwich, Marthas Vineyard area. Last week of Oct - Nov. Appreciate any suggestions for searching for shells & seaglass.

(I am assuming you mean Bearskin Neck, Rockport - since I have no idea what Bearneck is - and that is a spit of land with shops, not a beach - although there are some nearby)

That said, Salem, Gloucester, Rockport I would not consider prime areas to look for either. To get good sea debris you need waves to bring it in, and these towns have fairly tame beaches. If you get lucky and there was a storm passing by your odds increase - but then your vacation weather is ruined. One possible exception for a search site would be Wingersheek Beach in Gloucester (exit off Rte 128 of same name - then just follow signs). It is an unusually flat beach with sand bars out from beach - so that at low tide one can walk quite a distance out (my kids used to say they were walking to France when they were little). If something is right about tides and surf, I have found shells here - and once or twice a great number of sand dollars. But most times I find only pieces of unattractive shells.

You might find bits of seaglass along the Nantucket Sound side of Cape Cod in among the slipper shells which line the beaches. I assume you meant you would be in FALMOUTH as there is no such place at Fairmouth, however, there is Dartmouth and Fairhaven on the mainland, so maybe you meant one of those. Best place to find seaglass is in some of the shops. Hopefully, folks aren't throwing that many glass bottles over the sides of their boats or on the beaches these days.
