seattle area

We'll (mom, dad & 2 teenage boys) be in the Seattle area for 4 full days around Labor Day weekend. We have a car, love adventure/outdoor sports,(kayak, hike, bike). Any suggestions for a family that has never been to the West Coast?

Look at the Olympic Penisula,
whidbey Island, Mt. Ranier National Park and the San Juan Islands for ideas. Also, there are great hiking opportunities on Vancouver Island if you want to go that far. A bit further south is Mt. St. Helens and interesting trails around the volcano. Have fun !

Lots of information available here. Just enter Washington in the search box and you'll come up with previous trip reports as well as answers to many questions you might have.

Rent bikes and ride the Burke Gilman trail. Rent skates and go around GreenLake. Rent kayaks on Lake Union. Rent canoes over by the UW. Take a ferry ride. Go to Snoqualmie Falls. Day trip to Mt. Rainier.

4 days is a pretty short trip and since it's Labor Day weekend you might want to avoid any places that require ferry transportation (San Juans or Victoria). It could be a mess and waste a lot of your time.
