Sea Train Golf Resort - Sunset Beach??

Can anyone offer any comments about this resort and its location. How far from Myrtle Beach? Is it anything like Kiawah Island for comparison? Planning a beach golf vacation to Myrtle Beach in early May and don't know whether to book a room at a nice beachfront resort (Grand Dunes Marriott or Hampton Beachfront) or go for a golf resort package type deal instead? Appreciate any comments or opinions.

I can tell you that it is 20-25 miles north of Myrtle Beach. I stay at Sunset every summer but not Sea Trail. I rent a house on the beach. I love Sunset because it is close to MB if you want to go and it feels like it is a world away.

When in May? Harley Week (500,000 Harley Davidsons for the Carolinas Harley Davidson Dealers Association) is May 13-22nd.

I like the Marriott Grand Dunes. Sea Trail is nice but kind of isolated.

Robbenz,

just to make sure you understand, although Sea Trail Resort is in the municipality of Sunset Beach, it is not on the beach. It is actually inland of the intracoastal waterway. You would have to drive to the beach (but not far). Thus, I would say Sea Trail is not like Kiawah.

I second GoTravel's plug for the Marriott at Grande Dunes--it's in a great area (mostly residential) of MB.

Thanks to all for your replies. Just what I needed to know. Didn't realize Sea Trail was not beachfront, which is a must for this trip! Decided to book the Hampton Inn Beachfront instead of the Marriott Dunes -- got a oceanfront suite with breakfast included for a better rate than just a ocean front standard room at the Marriott. Also booked golf rounds in advance via carolina golf.com. So, not a complete package deal but I think I did okay. Thanks again.
