Saranac Lake/ dining

DH and I are at Saranac Lake as we speak. Thought it would be interesting to see how fast I could get a response to....
Where shall we go to eat here?
Don't really want fancy, but decent food and fun place. Anyone have experience in the area? We may have to "punt" tonite, but will need ideas for tomorrow. Thanks....you all never let me down.

Also, forgot to ask if anyone has been to the High Falls Gorge in Willmington near here. Worth the time?

High Falls on route 86 is closer to Lake Placid than to the town of Wilmington. Been many times. What does "worthy" means to you? It is a very individual answer. You may want to go to AuSable Chasm, then take the ferry for the rest of the day from Port Kent to Burlington, VT.

Go south on route 86, pass High Falls Gorge and about a mile or so after the entrance to Whiteface you should see Hungry Trout restaurant on the left side. Go downstairs to the bar (not restaurant!). you can meet many locals and non-local colorful characters.

I just remember it is R.F. McDougall's Pub downstairs and Hungry Trout upstairs.

Thanks again. didn't get your second message in time, but did go to Hotel Saranac Paul Smith's College.. Both of our meals were excellent and reasonably priced, I thought. Thanks for the tip. Enjoyed.
Let me know if you ever travel to Md. and have any questions.
