I'm lovin' the stories.. since we were living in a remote place, ours simply grew up used to constant travel and didn't fuss much unless ill..

how I'd love to take them to S.A. to see more family, but with a working/driving/social teen and limited free time, we have to mainly do the school holidays when everyone else is trying to put on the "We are too a well adjusted family, and we are all happy to be together" routine, lol.

jetset1, that is the sweetest story about your DS when he was 4. My oldest is 4 now and I treasure our alone time, which is rare nowadays. I love the mother/son bonding we do!!! And I know it will go by in a flash and soon he will want to be with anyone else but me.

mms...brag on!!! That is awesome to hear what a positive influence travel has had on your kids. I hope I should be so lucky to brag like that some day.

lolfn--your story made me lol. Anyone that has ever travelled with a little ones has experienced the collective groan of a plane when you board with kids in tow. You are not alone!

We made a few trips with our son (now 15 1/2!) when he was three months old, right before my maternity leave ended.

I'd rather tell my sister in law's "first flight with baby" story, however. She was a Navy wife. Her husband was able to be with her for the birth, then promptly shipped out for 6 months. She was bored and lonely, so she went to see her parents when the baby was just a couple of weeks old. Someone told her that the bulkhead seat had more room - wouldn't you know it? On the plane she was on, the first row faced the rest of the plane! So there she was, a new mother, trying to nurse discretely, while facing the entire plane!

Stephcar~ the part he remembers from the trip? Being detained on the plane upon landing because someone tampered with a bathroom and an air marshall kept us all onboard while he investigated...

missypie~ oh my goodness! I can't imagine how she made it through that trip..
my nerves would have caused the hysterical laughing bouts(usually only occuring around my sister), and I would have been thrown out, along with the baby!
