Rainy day in Naples/ft. myers with kids
Anyone have ideas of what to do with kids (5 and 8) if it rains. Specifically things that might be open Christmas day in Naples/Ft. Myers areas. Seeing a movie will atek up some time, any other ideas? Thanks.

Tough one, jsfcbf. Are you here in Naples now? I just turned on the air again -- into the mid to upper 80's again today. We do have a 40% chance of rain daily, but shouldn't last long, and then a 60% chance on Christmas, but temperatures still in the 80's. This is almost like summer, with possibility of summer like THUNDERSHOWERS.
The boat trips (there's a neat one from the North Trail across from the Pewter Mug) usually operate in the rain (if not pouring), and actually is pretty neat to do when it isn't cold -- and it won't be. Otherwise, the mall and Tin City (which can sort of seem like a big toy store to some kids) are the best places for total shelter.
The movies are open Christmas Day I see.
There are also some fun things at the Conservancey on Goodlette Road, but I'd not want to go there unless there was also some clear weather for the outside things. Still it's a good choice with a place for shelter and inside activities during showers.
Sure hope the rain doesn't blow my usual Christmas morning long beach walk!

Just looking at today's entertainment section of the "mullet wrapper" -- our newspaper.
How about visiting Palm Cottage, all decorated in true Victorian style for the holidays? It's Naples "oldest" house and is just a block from the pier. It just costs $5 for adults and $3 for children. (But it is closed Christmas Day).
Today, Saturday, and Tuesday, The Naples Dinner Theatre has one of their lunch shows -- lunch (hamburgers or hot dogs or pizza and an ice cream sundae bar) and the live show "A Year with Frog and Toad". Adults $17, kids $14.

adekyn, go feed yourself to a bear.
Even though they are young, my kids really enjoyed the Edison and Ford Houses and all the beautiful decorations and the grounds. They really go all out...there's usually music and actors in costume as well. There's a hands on museum for kids called the Imaginarium which they would enjoy (Ft Myers) I just told somebody else here about the Babcock ranch..but it's a TON of fun for kids. You ride in a jeep /buggy through a swamp and you see alligators and all sorts of other animals. They even let you pet a baby alligator. Your kids are the perfect age for this.
