YAY! What a fabulous landing!!
|
Touchdown!!
what a perfect landing. The front assembly didn't even colapse. |
No. Just burned the rubber right off those tires!
|
I am in the midst of a meltdown, but in a good way. When I saw that fire come from those wheels I screamed, but the fire stopped and it looks like all is OK. OMG, what an ordeal!! I'm so glad the flight crew did such a great job.
|
Good times~!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy endings......... |
HOOOOOOOOOORAAAAYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!
R5 |
They are now bringing stairs up to the plane. This is good, as they don't have to go down those slides.
|
YOu guys are my TV, thanks.....keep talkin'!!
|
seeksocean,
A little more detail for you: The landing looked very smooth, slow, and controlled. They kept the nose up for awhile after the back wheels touched down. There was obviously friction when the nose wheels came down. There was first smoke, then fire coming from those front wheels off and on for awhile until the plane stopped. No skidding. Very controlled, although scary for a few seconds as that fire reached the belly of the plane. |
Passengers are now coming down the stairs. So far they all seem to be OK, physically anyway.
|
...So now, it's back to LOST for me!
Isn't it alittle odd that this happened during the season premiere of this show, about a plane crash?! Belle |
Did you all see the passenger who was taking photos as she came down the stairs ??!!
Like la-de-da... I'd be leaping-off that plane ! R5 |
Great job Jet Blue! Great job pilots and crew!
|
Yea, R5! That was almost funny.
Glad to hear that they turned off the DirectTV for those people on board. Bad enough to be a part of it, let alone have to watch it. |
Another "non-event" to fill the cable news hours.
[P_M: I know what you went through, and you know I have strong interest in flying. So please don't take this personally. :) ] A couple weeks ago, CNN and everybody spent lots of minutes showing a military cargo plane landing with just one main landing gear. Everything's fine, just like today. These things just happen quite often. They really isn't news unless a landing gear collapse, or catch on fire. |
Thanks for the info! I am so glad they are okay.
I landed on foam once, many years ago on a flight to Tahiti, during the bomb scare days in the late 1960's, where we had to turn back to LAX. I recently had a big thump of a landing as the ground crew never took the blocks that block the tires away....so when my plane tried to take off, they burst and the plane fell with a thud (it wasn't going very fast, but we felt it, oxygen masks fell and the plane was out of commision). The rest of the story is a long 24 hours in Puerto Vallarta trying to get out of there..... I am sure this website is full of these types of stories!!! |
rkkwan: Did you happen to catch the video earlier this weeek of the private plane whose landing gear was snagged by a guy with a pole in a jeep riding parallel underneath the plane?
Pretty fantastic to me! Belle |
An amazing job by the piolt & crew
|
...now what's happened to Kate???...Oh yeah, that's a different show!
Ha! Belle |
No problem, rkkwan. I agree that airline mishaps occur more often than we might think, so let's take comfort in the knowledge that most mishaps are survivable.
