I'm with you OWJ. My heart is in my throat and I'm not sure I want to watch either.

sunnydelite Sep 21st, 2005 05:06 PM

theyll be ok guys..Keep the faith...
scary thing to have to go through..they have to wait to burn most of the fuel....so who knows how long it will take..They have to carry enough fuel to fly plus an extra hr. of fuel supposedly..if they hit bad weather or soemthing...like that...just rambling here........

Scarlett Sep 21st, 2005 05:10 PM

They say they Are foaming the runway, they want to keep the sparks down, landing at about 95 mph..the nose gear will collapse and that is when the sparks will fly .. they say it will be rough but they have done these before..from his mouth to Gods ears!

P_M Sep 21st, 2005 05:10 PM

I'm having a tough time with this too, yet I cannot tear myself away.

At least this plane has the opportunity to burn off their fuel, and that is good. When my plane was on fire, there was no time to dump or burn fuel, we had to land with a full load which is not a safe thing to do, but we still made it. This plane will be almost on empty when they land and that will help. sunnydelite is right, keep the faith.

I don't know whether I am glad for limited access to media or not. All I have are you guys to let me know what's up. Thank you!

gyppielou Sep 21st, 2005 05:14 PM

believe..........

seetheworld Sep 21st, 2005 05:15 PM

Well, they haven't shut down operations at the airport yet, so they may still be burning fuel (this plane cannot dump fuel). They've been in the air for 3 hours, burning approx. 6,000 gallons of fuel an hour.
