Lived there for 4 years, miss it alot. One think I loved to do there was take a picnic lunch to Fountain Hills (suburb NE of Phoenix) and watch the fountain go off. You said you are young, so if you want nightlife you will find tons of it because of ASU being in Tempe. I will leave more traditional tips for those who have been there recently, I am sure the restaurants I used to eat at are all gone now...

We have lived here for 6 years and haven't explored the city much. Working, working. But I would play on Mill Ave. in Tempe at night for food and drinks and partying. You might enjoy the Arizona Science Center downtown or one of the zoos. The weather is perfect this time of year. Of course, golfing is our biggest draw with over 300 courses to choose from. You might enjoy taking a drive to Sedona to see the majestic red rock formations.

Phoenix is a golf mecca with lots and lots of malls.
You'll have plenty of courses to choose from, but it'll cost you if play the resort type courses and the municipal courses though cheaper, are tougher to get on.
Phoenix is strip mall city. They are everywhere. Most people seem to head for the malls in Scottsdale
I'd recommend a trip to Tucson to check out the Desert and Wildlife museums and Saguaro National Park. West of Tucson is the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. If you're willing to do more driving, there's also Sedona and the Petrified forest.
There are science, art and history museums as well as plays, shows, sports events and Taliesin, but Phoenix is pretty antiseptic and you'll be doing lots of driving.
