Phoenix?

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel that has a GREAT pool facility in Phoenix? Have never been to Phoenix so 'things to do and see' with an older teen would also be helpful. Thanks for your help!

We LOVE!!!! to stay at The Phoenician when we go to Phoenix. Technically it is in Scottsdale which is awesome to shop and people watch. The pool is great and very relaxing. you can't go wrong at the Phoenician. Another option is the Scottsdale Princess and the Marriott Camelback Inn. Anything around Scottsdale would be great for an older teen.Have fun!!!!

You don't indicate price range, but most "resort" hotels in Phoenix and Scottsdale have great pools. In addition to the Phoenician and the Princess in Scottsdale, check our the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix (same expensive price category). The Buttes in Tempe and the Sunburst Resort in Scottsdale are more moderate but still very nice. My experience is there have been more younger people at the Buttes that the Sunburst.

I'd check out the Hilton at Squaw Peak -- fabulous pool with a lazy river float.

Check the Phoenix information on this board for lots of information on "must sees."

The Hyatt at Gainey Ranch has a fun pool. It's actually several pools, one just for grown-ups so no one is bothered by the kids playing in the others. There's a sandy beach and tower with a big slide.

The best pools in PHX?SCOT are
1) Phoenician (classiest of all, has a water slide for kids, multiple pools on different levels, plenty of lounges and service.

2) Hyatt Gainey Ranch-elaborate pool set up with beautiful setting overlooking golf course and mountains. The hotel's kind of past its prime though. Needs updating.

3/4)Biltmore and Princess--good pools, much better than in most resort cities, and pretty good hotels.

5) Four Seasons--OK but not great for the price

6) Camelback

7) Boulders pool is kind of disappointing.

Have spent alot of time in Phoenix. Agree with most posts, but Phoenician is quite snobby. Pool area at Hilton Squaw Peak is awesome. Spent 10 days there two years ago. Kids loved the pool area. I also like the Hyatt Gainey Ranch. Beautiful pool area.

You didn't indicate when you plan on visiting. Winter and spring are the most expensive times to visit. Most of the hotels/resorts suggested will cost a pretty penny during these times. Also most of those already listed (Phoenician, Biltmore) are quite snobby. Would suggest Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort. Pool is awsome and you are not in snobby Scottsday area. There is more to Phoenix than just overpriced resorts.

Travel + Leasure magazine just came out with their "500 Best Hotels in the World" issue. Here is their list for the Phoenix area:

1. Arizona Biltmore (Phoenix/Scottsdale) 8 pools

2. Fairmont Scottsdale Princess:4pools

3. Four-Seasons Rsort Scottsdale: 6,000 square-foot bi-level pool

4. Hyatt Regence Scottsdale at Gainey Ranch: 10 pools

5. Marriott's Camelback Inn: 3 pools

6. The Phoenician: 9 pools

7. The Boulders (Carefree--Great area and place!)4 pools

This should get you started!

Have fun,

Many of the previously mentioned resorts run about $300-$450 per night. We have opted for the Sunburst (sunburstresort.com) at $229/nt in early April. It has a zero entry pool, lazy river & water slides.

Happy planning & Have a great vacation!
